We were quoted €3,000 for a part we bought for €850.

Our 2019 Kia Niro hybrid needed a new electric traction motor, part number 36500-2BDE0. Our garage said the part alone would cost at least €3,000. The new list price is about €2,274, so the quote was above even that.

So we looked ourselves, by part number. The same number was listed on eBay.de by Cesvimap, an insurer-owned recycler in Spain, for €478 plus shipping. A seller in Poland had one for €480 delivered.

We bought ours from MMParts, a breaker in Viseu, Portugal: 72,000 km on the donor car, a six-month warranty on the part (labour excluded), €850 delivered, VAT included.

Same part, same number, under a third of the quote. The listings were there all along. Most drivers never see them, and most garages do not have the time to hunt for them.

That is the job we do now. You send us your garage's quote. We find the same part number across Europe, show you two to four options with warranty and delivery, and send the part to your garage. You pay the seller directly; we charge one fixed fee, and nothing if we cannot beat the quote.
